On 18th April, we had the privilege of attending and sponsoring the Forget Me Not Ball in support of Moya Cole Hospice.

It was a special evening – one filled with community, generosity, and a shared understanding of just how important hospice care is. Thanks to the incredible efforts of everyone involved, the event raised an amazing £12,000 to support the hospice’s work.

The Reality of Hospice Care

Hospices provide something that goes far beyond medical treatment. They offer comfort, dignity, and compassion at the most difficult times, for both patients and their families.

But what many people don’t realise is the scale of what it takes to keep these services running.

  • It costs around £20,000 per day for Moya Cole Hospice to provide its care
  • Only around a third of this is funded through the NHS
  • The rest must be raised through donations, fundraising, and community support

Events like the Forget Me Not Ball play a vital role in making that possible.

A Community Effort

What stood out most on the night wasn’t just the fundraising total, it was the sense of community.

From organisers and volunteers to attendees and donors, it was a reminder that hospice care is something people come together to support. Because at some point, it touches all of us.

Supporting the People Behind the Care

At MyShiftPlanner, this cause is particularly close to us.

Many of the people who use our app every day are healthcare professionals, including hospice staff, working shifts to provide essential care. Nurses, carers, and support teams who are there day in, day out, often in challenging and emotional roles.

Supporting the Forget Me Not Ball was our way of recognising that work and contributing, in a small way, to the wider system that supports them.

Looking Ahead

We’re incredibly proud to have been part of such a meaningful event, and grateful to everyone who made it happen.

The work of hospices like Moya Cole Hospice continues every single day, and it relies on ongoing support.

If there’s one thing the evening reinforced, it’s this:

the impact of hospice care is immeasurable—and it’s something worth supporting.
